Lab Member Spotlight

This Lab Member Spotlight is Tangonan. Currently a 2nd-year PhD student in the Department of Health and Kinesiology, Tangonan serves as the lead graduate research assistant on the Fall Management in Wheelchair Users (FaMe) study. We’re excited to see their continued contributions in adapted physical activity research!

Hometown: Vernon Hills, IL

DPQoL Involvement: As the lead graduate research assistant on the FaMe study, Tangonan is actively involved in research focused on improving safety and mobility for wheelchair users. This role allows them to engage deeply in impactful work aimed at enhancing quality of life.

Career Goals: After their time at UIUC, Tangonan aspires to continue working in academia and further research focused on individuals with disabilities, with a particular interest in adapted physical activity.

Favorite Thing About Champaign/Urbana: Tangonan loves walking around campus, especially with their puppy during the fall. Having gone to undergrad in a big city, they enjoy the traditional college campus experience that UIUC provides.

Enjoyment Outside of School/Work: Outside of their academic pursuits, Tangonan finds relaxation and joy in cooking. Trying out new recipes is a major stress reliever for them!
